WMHBRA February 14th Meeting:
Social Media Workshop
Presented by Ridgeview Technology

Social media enhances our ability to engage with our existing and potential customers. If you don't know them, you can't talk with them. It is now more critical than ever that businesses embrace social media and integrate it into their marketing strategy.  Effective implementation of social media has to come from the top to raise awareness of what is possible across your business, to identify the appropriate tools, technologies, channels, and messaging that will connect with your customers and potential customers and support your business objectives.  For many, the initial enthusiasm for engaging in social media is soon eclipsed by the recognition that doing it right is hard work and requires a long-term commitment and system.

This workshop will help you identify strategies that will properly integrate social media into your business and provide you the tools and resources to make the process simle and effective.  You will learn how to harness the power of social media through facebook, twitter, blogs, squidoo  and many others to leverage the internet and reach out to customers effectively and inexpensively with targeted messages.  Current examples of businesses successfully using social media will be provided and best practices discussed to further assist integrating social media into your business.

The cost to attend the WMHBRA monthly meeting is $15 for members and $20 for non-members.
This includes networking opportunities as well as pizza and salad from Flatbread Company.
We hope you'll join us!

Roundtable Discussion on the new Fall Protection Regulations.

Appeals Court Upholds OSHA's Fall Protection Directive

All residential construction employers must comply with new Federal Regulations

"Fatalities from falls are the number one cause of workplace deaths in construction." Said Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health Dr. David Michaels. "Almost every week, we see a worker killed from falling off a residential roof. We can stop these fatalities, and we must."

According to data from the department's Bureau of Labor Statistics, an average of 40 workers are killed each year as a result of falls from residential roofs.

This roundtable discussion will be helpful to residential builders.  We'll discuss changes in residential fall protection regulations that are now effective and how we can comply with OSHA's fall protection regulation.  Also situations where alternative fall protection measures may be implemented and what fall protection systems and methods could be used for framing operations, roofing operations, and other activities.

Here's what you missed
at our September 13th meeting:

Pollock Land Planning was our presenting sponsor.

“A How-to Guide for the Shoreline Permitting Process”

Eric Buck, RLA, ASLA,  landscape architect and co-owner of Pollock Land Planning LLC will be giving a step by step discussion on how proper site and landscape design can help navigate through the shoreline permitting process.
With recent regulation changes and the ever-changing economic climate it is important to assure that projects can get through municipal and state review without delay.
As demonstrated through the application process of two real-world projects, visitors will witness, first-hand, how a systematic approach can get their projects from conception, to construction.
The seminar will discuss how to efficiently meet the requirements of the Comprehensive Shoreland Protection Act without sacrificing overall project goals.
This layperson discussion will demystify what is often seen as a daunting, and challenging process, and leave visitors with the knowledge and confidence that they need to get their shoreline projects approved.
